Elimination Dept. Review Standards

Most of the reviews posted on EliminationDept.com include an "anus" rating of 1 to 10. This rating scale was put together as the standard scale for reviews of all types. A scale-based rating was originally conceived as part of a marketing ploy. Just as the Elimination Dept. went online Eliminator submitted a "10 Anuses" review of the movie "Constantine" to the film company to use in television ads. The movie had already been in theaters for quite some time, and the Elimination Dept. website was simply an "Under Construction" page at the time, but Eliminator was determined to get the word out. Although the review was not used in any television commercials, the standard of "10 anuses" was determined to be the site-wide standard for reviews.

Staff members may opt out of "anus" ratings, but having the "anus" rating is considered the best way to sum up a review for those readers looking for a "quick review" or for any artists or authors looking to use their positive review score in advertising for their work.

With that in mind Eliminator didn't want the review system to suffer from any inconsistencies. It was noted that AllMusic.com's reviews of albums don't always match their star ratings. Sometimes an album has a low star rating but a very positive written review.

To avoid this on the Elimination Dept. website it was decided that a 10-anus committee would be set up to review all pieces of reviewed works and their accompanying reviews. 10 anuses were needed to judge each piece of music, literature, movie, etc. that was reviewed as well as to read the actual submitted review. Elimination Dept. scientist Huko Double Prime was called upon to create 10 genetically engineered anuses to serve as the review board.

Currently, most submitted reviews are run by the Anus review board. The Anus review board is kind of like the Electoral College. They study the review, and piece of work, and decide on a number rating that best represents the text of the review. These votes are tallied up and an anus score is placed at the top of the review webpage.

Typically the scale breaks down like this:

10 - 9 Anuses in favor: Great, a masterpiece.
8.5 - 7.5 Anuses in favor: Pretty good.
7 - 6 Anuses in favor: Okay, but improvement wouldn't hurt.
5.5 - 4.5 Anuses in favor: Needs improvement.
4.5 - 2 Anuses in favor: Not good at all, needs great improvement.
1.5 - 1 Anuses in favor: Complete piece of crap.
0.5 - 0 Anuses in favor: The creator of the reviewed work should be killed.

Please note Anuses can vote a "half anus" by voting "eh...." instead of "yea" or "nay"
